29th MAY: THE DAISY CHAIN FESTIVAL
The Daisy Chain Festival.... A quirky mix of exhibitions, performance and workshops with all things blossoming, vibrant and inspiring. As part of 'FLOWER POWER' Albert Road Traders Association invites traders and shoppers to dress up in all things floral for the day. Come along and celebrate the cultural diversity and community spirit that fills Albert Road through the language of flowers, discover all the wonderful businesses and groups that are based here, plus - workshops, exhibitions and music throughout the day. Exciting things will be happening in Albert Road from 11:00 and a full schedule will be available on the day to help you make the most of this vibrant day. - The trees and shop windows on Albert Road will be dressed with flowers made by the students of local primary schools.
- Lots of the shops on Albert Road will have special displays and products for you to come and enjoy.
- Time to be confirmed - Belly dancers will be performing their wonderfully passionate dance on the day.
- From 10:30 - Fashion showcases from the students at the University of Portsmouth with hair by Garbos, 11 Albert Road. Feel free to come and watch the stylists at work and ask any questions you may have.
- 11:00 – 14:00 - A digital exhibition of floral images will be presented by The Kings Theatre including work from local artists from.
- 11:00 – 16:00 - NeBMedia will be having an instant image exhibition at Bonzo Studio. Everyone will be encouraged to take a photo of the event on their mobile and upload it to NeBMedia’s Facebook page will then be extracted and exhibited straight away for everyone to see.
- 11:00 – 16:00 - Children’s face painting by Furie Belle at Wallspace.
- 11:00 - Demonstration of How to use recycled containers to make interesting plant pots and arrangements by Sue Stokes of Southsea Greenhouse at Tango Tea, 3 Albert Road with 10 places available which are bookable in advance.
- 12:00 - A floristry master class: making a bouquet, from Kelly Jordan at Charmaine Florist at come along and watch or even have a go by purchasing the flowers and following along.
- 12:00 onwards - The Phoenix pub will be having a BBQ in their garden.
- 12:00 – 14:00 - Members of Groundlings Theatre youth groups will be parading along the pavements of Albert Road showing of their wonderful floral costumes.
- 12:30-16:00 - Trinity Church, on the corner of Francis Avenue, will be open from and will be full of exciting things; from fashion and jewellery to plant displays.
- From 13:00 - The Youth theatre will be putting on excerpts from The Little Shop of Horrors at Seymour’s Fireplaces.
- 13:00 - A workshop demonstration of ornamental planting will be presented by Kathee Pitt of the Shaw Trust at Trinity Church with 10 places available which are bookable in advance.
- From 13:30 - Garbos will be offering children the opportunity to have their hair decorated with flowers for a donation to go to charity.
- 14:00 - A workshop demonstration of planting herbs at will be presented by Kathee Pitt of the Shaw Trust at Trinity Church with 10 places available which are bookable in advance.
- 14:00 - Ponyo, the children’s film is presented by Portsmouth Film Society will be showing at The Kings Theatre.

- 15:00 - Gardeners Question Time with our panel of experts at Trinity Church at come down with any of your gardening queries from how to save a sick plant to help and advice on what, when and where you should be planting to make the most of your garden.
- 19:30 - The Kings theatre will be showing American Beauty.
17th NOVEMBER: 'CHILDREN IN NEED' - ARTA and The King’s Theatre Trust
partnership dress up and raise funds for this worthy cause.
27th NOVEMBER: SWITCHING ON OF THE CHRISTMAS LIGHTS
3rd DECEMBER: COMMUNITY CELEBRATION OF CHRISTMAS - ARTA, The
Salvation Army, Local schools, King’s Theatre and Portsmouth City Council team
up with Santa to celebrate Christmas in Albert Road. 4-6pm - The Lighthouse
Community Centre.
